In 2006, during his years at Barnet College, Dean was given the opportunity to work for Wish Films based at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
The production he worked on was Jim, Jam and Sunny, a Children's television programme commissioned by CiTV and distributed by Entertainment Rights. Upon completion of the BTEC National Diploma in Media: Moving Imagery at Barnet College, He went on to study Animation at the London College of Communication under the Tutelage of Martina Bramkamp, Susi Wilkinson and Rachel Larkum. He also studied Observational Drawing under the tutelage of Lucy Sullivan who deemed him a natural cubist. During his first year, Dean had the opportunity to work with Joe Tomlinson (2nd Year Animation Student) on 'Shilabah'. His duties & responsibilities consisted of key frame animation and colouring using a Wacom Tablet on Flash CS3, his first experience using such hardware. A year later in 2009, he then went on to do a weeks work experience for Possum Pictures, working with Director Howard Webster, Director of Photography Callum McInnes, Actor James Callis (Battlestar Galactica) and many others. His role was an Art Department Runner with the duties & responsibilities of setting up and breaking down sets, he was also asked to be an extra in three scenes. In this year he was studying in his second year of university and worked with Rodolfo Guarnieri Batista on their film 'All That Could Have Been' and created 3D Animation for 'Eye For An Eye' - Director: Valeria Fonseca. Dean also directed his first theater play under the Guidance of Actor/Playwright/Director Paul McNeilly and Director Michael Hobdell of Monkey Tennis in Association with the Bubble & Squeak Collective. In 2010 Dean completed his BA Honours in Animation and completed his 3rd year film 'Metempsychosis' - This short film animation is the first surrealist film created in the Animation Department of London College of Communication and aims to stand as a message of self-expression to future students. Earlier in 2012, Dean freelanced for Smell Essence on The Splotz, a new childrens web series and also Interned with Passion Pictures for the Barclaycard 'Toys' Shoot. Dean started working for Henry Hadaway Organisation (HHO) as a Production Assistant/Graphic Designer and quickly progressed within the company to become their Head of Production and Graphic Design. He overseas the production of Optical Media Products for Clients as well as designing Optical Media Products. During his time at HHO, Dean has also assisted in the planning of Henry Hadaway's 70th Birthday Fundraiser which was in Conjunction with Moorfields Eye Hospital for Further Research into Glaucoma. Dean produced two videos for presentation on the night - a Tribute to Henry Hadaway and a Glaucoma Awareness Video. Dean has also produced show reel videos for Actors Daniel Black (Rider from Skins) and Tony Streeter (Inside Out). In June 2014, Dean left HHO in pursuit of new challenges and has since managed the production of CD and Vinyl products for various Independent Record Labels. He also does graphic design for the products as well as continuing to have links with replicators and pressing plants. |
